Almost killed by Pepsi truck

Almost killed by Pepsi truck
Almost killed by Pepsi truck - Image 2
Almost killed by Pepsi truck - Image 3

I was cycling southbound on NW 14 Ave between 14-15 Street, Miami, FL 33125, when a Pepsi Cola semi truck came roaring by. He got so close that if I had not stopped or thrown myself to the right, he would have hit me.

He literally cut me off from access to the road. Even though I was in front of him, he seemed to be in a hurry only to be stopped by a red light, where I had the opportunity to take a picture of his license plate and truck. I approached his window to ask if he realized what he almost did. His attitude was very disturbing—extremely aggressive.

So I avoided any conflict. He turned into the River Landing Publix parking garage. The incident this morning made me realize that I need a helmet camera. I have no doubt that if I had not stopped completely, he would have hit me.

This incident seems to be happening more and more, not only with trucks but with cars. Motorcyclists seem to understand the rules of the road. Miami is not a cyclist or motorcycle-friendly city, especially with cyclists. Drivers seem to see cyclists as a problem.

I have never, in my 40 years of cycling, sued anyone for hitting me, and believe me, I've been hit quite a few times. However, I'm getting older, and my body can no longer take the punishment of an accident. I'm a cautious rider, obeying all road rules, but for me to say it's time for a video camera. The problem has gotten extremely bad.

Plus, the driver's conduct was totally uncalled for.

He was rude and aggressive. I understand it's a Monday morning, but if it were not for my reflexes and actions, I would be dead or seriously injured.

I have a can of mountain dew that is expired August 4th 2025, when I was finishing up my can I got a hard green chunk that presentes itself inside my mouth. As i disgustingly ran to the sink to spit said green chunk out i was only surprised to see that there was 2 more chunks and a chunky covering on rhe cab tab.

I have never had an issue before but this has definitely made me doubt your company's cleanliness and product quality. Will I ever chug down a cold can of mountain dew again? Hmmm...answer to that is, *** no! Yuck!

I guess i wonder what you are going to do to try and fix this issue?! It seems like an unfixable one to me but I am open to hearing your ideas or offers. I wouldnt make this a lengthy process for I will be contacting my lawyer to discuss further action.

Thank you for your time and for ruining my miuntain dew experience! Sincerly, Samantha Jo Etersky

Rollback of DEI

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

To whom it may concern,

I am writing to express my disappointment in PepsiCo's recent decision to roll back its diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts. This is not just a step backward; it's a reflection of misplaced priorities at a time when meaningful commitments to equity should be expanding, not shrinking.

Backing away from DEI to avoid criticism sends a message that principles are only upheld when they are convenient. I expect better from companies that hold significant economic and cultural influence. Unfortunately, PepsiCo now joins the list of corporations, including Target, Walmart, McDonald's, and Coca-Cola, that I no longer support due to their decision to retreat from equity-centered commitments.

Foot traffic at Target has slowed. Meanwhile, companies like Costco, who have remained consistent in their values and continue to invest in their workers and communities, are seeing increased foot traffic and customer loyalty. That is not a coincidence. People notice when companies stand for something and when they fold under pressure.

I will continue to support companies like Costco and others who stay the course. As a consumer, I vote with my wallet. PepsiCo will no longer be part of my household's purchases until it demonstrates the courage to lead with integrity and restore its commitment.

I applaud Pepsi. Applicants should be hired based strictly on their skills, abilities and education.

The best candidate for the position should always get the job and if you think otherwise, I hope next time you fly, your pilot is a DEI hire who got his/her position not based on experience and capabilities, but simply because of skin color. I hope when you need life-saving surgery, you find out that your surgeon received their position after a DEI decision to lower qualifications to be a doctor (it has been happening for years) and they are theoretically NOT qualified to perform the procedure they are about to undertake on you. I hope the next position you or a loved one try to land, you don't get because a less qualified person gets it, based on DEI hiring and you can't pay your rent or mortgage! Maybe really then you will "wake up" and "smell the Pepsi", so to speak!

DO BETTER!

Now, excuse me while I go enjoy my Cherry Pepsi. They are really tasty after they've been chilled in the freezer for about an hour.

I'm actually more partial to tea, but ice cold water is also great on a hot summer's day. Cheetos are good, I just wish they didn't stain your fingers so badly. At least they don't give you the bad breath that Doritos do.

Oh, give me a break, this diversity equals incompetence argument is lazy and tired. No, hospitals aren’t hiring surgeons from Instagram or pilots from TikTok.

That’s not how any of this works. It’s always revealing when someone hears a person of color got a job and immediately assumes standards were lowered. Not that they were qualified. Not that they earned it.

Just automatic discomfort because the talent doesn’t look like what you expected. That’s not about merit, that’s about your bias. No one is calling for unqualified doctors or cutting corners on patient care. Claiming that DEI is responsible for a wave of underqualified professionals without offering a shred of proof isn’t a valid argument, it’s fearmongering about lowered standards.

If you’re going to make that accusation, come with facts not fear based assumptions. DEI exists to ensure that capable, qualified people who’ve historically been overlooked finally get a fair shot. And there’s plenty of historical evidence and peer reviewed research to support that. It challenges hiring practices that favored comfort and familiarity over competence.

The standards haven’t changed, what’s changed is who’s being given the opportunity to meet them. If you genuinely believe that diversity efforts come at the expense of qualifications, then critical thinking skills are clearly in short supply. That’s not how professional pipelines, credentialing, or hiring processes work and it never has been. If seeing a Black woman in the cockpit or a brown doctor in the OR unsettles you, the issue isn’t standards it’s your comfort zone.

This outrage is not about qualifications. It’s about fragile egos losing control of the narrative.

I don't know anything about TIkTok, as I have never used the app but I've no doubt you have. There has been countless news reports about lowered standards over the years.

Nice try, liberal. I'm not reading your thesis long response, because you no doubt are merely vomiting something you heard someone on The View say. BTW: My G.I.

doctor is a 34 year African American female, so your argument against me, personally, falls flat and dead in the water. Typical liberal, living in denial and getting their information from TIkTok, Rachel Maddow, Facebook and The View.

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-2679647

Ah, there it is…the ad hominem greatest hits. You don’t engage with the actual argument, but you do make time for assumptions, deflection, and name-calling.

Impressive. You claim not to use TikTok, yet accuse others of parroting it. You dismiss a response without reading it, then criticize it for being too long. You cite vague “news reports” without a single verifiable source but demand facts from others.

That’s not logic—it’s projection. Your intelligence is showing, just not in the way you think. And congratulations on having a Black doctor. That doesn’t exempt you from bias.

In fact, using her as a shield while arguing against the very systems that allow people like her to succeed under fair conditions only reinforces the point…you’re comfortable with individual exceptions, not systemic equity. If your entire rebuttal is based on stereotypes about liberals, late-night hosts, and social media platforms you admit to not using, maybe the problem isn’t what we are watching. Maybe the problem is that you’ve mistaken volume for validity. You don’t have to like DEI.

But if you’re going to criticize it, at least come with more than recycled talking points. P.S.

Never used TikTok, don’t do social media, and couldn’t care less for liberal or conservative echo chambers. Newsflash, some of us still think for ourselves.

Here too. Dei just rewards mediocrity.

Brand ambassador for The New Healthy pepsi

A few things I am beyond proud of you that you are moving all artificial things from Pepsi with that being said I would love to be your friend Ambassador and coincidentally I was the trainer of Joseph Brooks who was a jingle and songwriter. I own the rights to his music now because he left them to me in his will, and I always said I want to bring back his jingles, especially the Pepsi.

One Pepsi is my favorite jingle he ever made. I can send it to you. I think if you brought that jingle back with your new label that it will fly off the shelves and I will help you. I also have another client I used to train who I believe still works with you.

Her name is Stacy Ichiuji Pillersdorf. I will also reach out to her. Maybe she can get me to the right person sadly Joseph Brooks has passed away, but would love to share all of his Pepsi jingles with you.

I mean, these are literally like 35/40 year old HITS. Thank you, thank you thank you and if you could also connect me with the right person to speak about this, that would be great.

Non existent

Original review Apr 29, 2025
4/29/2025 10 ish a.m.
As my fragile, cane-using, 87 yo Mom and I was walking into the Dollar General store beside Aldi on the south side of town, the Pepsi guy came flying around the corner and almost ran into both of us. Y es, he could easily see us as he was going out the main door.

I made it but he made my mom stop moving and buzzed right past her without a word. I did say that was very rude. He said nothing. I did tell the store worker who was right there straightening up the rug said when he flew in he tripped on the rug that was at the door way.
Then, when we were leaving he did the same dang thing as we both were going out!

It's like we weren't even there! If he would have ran into either one of us and I'm almost 67 with a neuropathy in both legs. Do you all not teach your people courtesy to the customers? He was just plain in his own world and brushing fast past everyone.
When we walked by him outside, I did say something to him and he just plain ignored me.

No apology. No consideration. No nothing.
Yes, PISSED Customer! What a bad reflection on your company.

I can tell you this: IF i would have had any pepsi product in my cart, I would have returned it. And IF he would have ran into us for his clueness, I would pursue legally.

Pepsi FAQs

Pepsi is part of PepsiCo, Inc., a global food and drinks manufacturer. PepsiCo owns various Pepsi products, such as Pepsi itself, Mountain Dew, Gatorade, Lay's, Quaker Oats, and Tropicana. The company is listed on the NASDAQ stock exchange with the symbol "PEP," indicating its shareholders own it.

Pepsi was a brainchild of a pharmacist Caleb Bradham. It was created in 1893, New Bern, North Carolina. It was first made as a drink to help digestion and boost energy, and it was called "Brad's Drink." In 1898, it was renamed "Pepsi-Cola," taking its name from the digestive enzyme pepsin and the kola nuts in the recipe.

The current CEO of PepsiCo is Ramon Laguarta. He took over the position in October 2018 after Indra Nooyi. Ramon has worked at PepsiCo for many years and has held several important roles, including CEO of Europe Sub-Saharan Africa and Global Chief Commercial Officer.

Pepsi Max is one of these Pepsi products that is a sugar-free, low-calorie version of Pepsi that came out in 1993. It is promoted as a cola that offers full flavor without any sugar and is aimed at people who enjoy the taste of regular Pepsi but want to avoid calories. To achieve its sweetness, Pepsi Max uses artificial sweeteners, mainly aspartame and acesulfame K.

The company owns a vast variety of Pepsi products. Among them are beverages, such as Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Pepsi Max, Mountain Dew, Gatorade, 7UP, Tropicana, and Aquafina; snacks, such as Lay's, Doritos, Cheetos, Ruffles, Tostitos, and Quaker Oats; and the following foods: Quaker cereals and Cap'n Crunch.

According to the official website, the Pepsi logo was changed multiple times, primarily in 1962, 1973, 1998, 2008, and 2023. The most recent update in 2023 features a retro design combined with modern touches.

Pepsi has a shelf life of 9 months from the production date when kept in a cool, dry place. You can usually find the expiration date and Pepsi order number on the bottle or can. Even if the drink is safe to drink after this date, its taste and fizz might not be good.
